The Maoris believe these “pas” link heaven and Earth. The Maori emphasize the role of birds, bird magic (air element) in creation. Note: These Earth Zodiac points are based on research by  astrologer Steve Nelson following the work of Dane Rudhyar published in "Astrological Timing: Transition into the New Age." For arcane reasons, Rudhyar equated 0 Virgo with the location of the Great Pyramid and Sphinx of Giza. This location adjusted to 20 Virgo aligns the Earth Zodiac accurately with world events.

Ancient Greeks philosophers knew that the Earth is round and is composed of twelve sections, each with a distinctive character. 

Plato described the Earth zodiac, the “signs of heaven” on Earth. As different parts of the human body relate to zodiacal signs - Aries head to Pisces feet - so different areas of the Earth correspond meaningfully with the zodiacal signs.

The 360 degrees of Earth longitude exactly correspondence with the 360 degrees of the zodiac, these are “geodetic equivalents.”

The zodiacal Earth field conditions the basic patterns of human culture. Zodiacal “signs of heaven” are reflected in regional myths, religions and systems of government.  An understanding of the Earth zodiac can be helpful in resolving regional conflicts and in preserving the diversity of world cultures.

Planetary movements through specific degrees of the celestial zodiac are “felt” at corresponding degrees of the Earth zodiac.

British astrologer Nicholas Campion has called (Mundane Astrology, pubs 1984) the elusive Earth Zodiac familar to Plato and later lost the "Rosetta stone" of astrology.

GEOGRAPHICAL SIGNATURES OF THE EARTH ZODIAC

* Oceans in Water Signs Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces plus Capricorn and Aquarius, signs of Winter, the Water Season.

* Great Fires in Fire Signs Aries (Western U.S.), Leo (West  Africa, Spain, Portugal) and Sagittarius (Eastern Asia)

* Aries Western North America looks like the head of a Ram (if the world  is turned upside down as Californians are inclined to do).

* The world's Bread Baskets in Earth Signs Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn.

* Dane Rudhyar noted that the Taurus zone Gulf of Mexico is shaped like a throat with Yucatan, the tongue,  and Florida, the epiglottis. Taurus rules the throat.

* Global ecologists call the rainforests of South America the lungs of  the Earth. These rainforests are mostly located in the Gemini zone of the Earth Zodiac, Gemini rules the lungs. Gemini rules the lungs. 

* The region of Brazil extending east into the Cancer zone looks like a woman’s breast.  Cancer rules the breast. 

* A lion’s head and mane appears in the broad outlines of Leo ruled West Africa.  A lion standing erect, the image in England’s national crest, can be made out in the coastlines of Great Britain.

* The mother goddess sign Virgo zone includes most of Africa and a large part of Asia. Virgo/Ceres is goddess of abundance, here are found the richest supplies of diamonds and precious metals.

* Libra is sign of the balance between yang and yin halves the zodiacal cycle, the Libra zone of the Earth Zodiac bridges between East and West.  Mecca is 0 Libra.

* The delta of India in the Scorpio zone is apt as tantra, a sexual yoga  for union of body and soul, originated here Scorpio, the sign of extremes,  includes the deepest ocean and highest mountain peaks on in the world. 

* China, the most populous nation on Earth, is mostly in the expansive Sagittarian zone. The centaur shoots his arrow skyward, the Chinese invented firework rockets.

* The eastern half of Australia, Capricorn zone, is the profile of a goat.

* Aquarius, the sign of the Water Bearer, is mostly all ocean except for  islands most notably forward looking New Zealand.

* Water sign Pisces is mostly Pacific ocean though it does include the US states Alaska and Hawaii.
